Rescue FAQs

The Cherokee Humane Society (CHS) was founded in 1975. Since then, CHS has rescued thousands of felines and canines. The Cherokee Humane Society is private non-profit organizations and receives no local, state or federal support. We thrive solely through our thrift store and your generous donations. We are not part of the Cherokee County Animal Shelter.
We have have no restrictions on where adopters live.

Cats are displayed 24/7 in the above adoption centers. Applications are available there as are instructions on how to adopt from there.

DOG ADOPTIONS
All our puppies/dogs are in foster homes to maximize adoptability and compatibility. Dog adoptions are held most Saturdays on-site at the Woodstock PetSmart, 142 Woodstock Square Ave., Woodstock, GA 30189 from 11 AM to 4 PM. Applications are also available online.
