Rescue FAQs

Animal Advocates of Michigan is organized exclusively to educate the community on animal care and welfare; to alleviate the pain and suffering of animals; to provide financial assistance for spay/neuter and other animal welfare programs; to find appropriate homes for animals in kill-shelters and to assist animal owners with re-homing their pets. We are a no-kill organization. We will NEVER euthanize an animal just to make room for another. We will only euthanize in cases of extreme aggression or quality of life issues.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process begins with having interested parties fill out an application. Once the application is reviewed we perform a home visit. If the home visit goes well, we then schedule the adoption.

Our adoption fee is $125. All of our dogs are under the care of a licensed veterinarian. We provide documentation of all veterinary care provided. All dogs over the age of five months are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. For those younger than five months, we require the adopter to spay/neuter by a date specified in our adoption contract.

Our responsibility to our dogs is for life. We don't disappear after an adoption. We're available 24/7 to help our adopters work through any issues they may have. While our goal is lifetime placement, we understand that life changing events happen. If at anytime our adopters can no longer keep or provide for their adopted dog, we will take the dog back.
