Rescue FAQs

We are a small, dedicated group of fosters and volunteers. We strive to improve the lives of senior dogs who find themselves without a family to care for them anymore. We do not have a facility. Our dogs live in our homes as members of our families. We provide care, comfort, companionship and, most of all, unconditional love. We have worked in senior rescue for years, and see the continuing and growing need to get them out of shelters where they are often euthanized because of their age and/or medical reasons, or from owners that find themselves in crisis and no longer able to care for their companions (nursing home, illness, abusive situations, etc). Senior Dog Haven and Hospice is a registered 501(c)3. All donations to our rescue are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
The goal of Senior Dog Haven & Hospice is to find the best home possible for our senior dogs.  To assist us in this endeavor, SDH&H requires a fully completed application, references, and a visit to your home by one of our trained volunteers.  For this reason we only process applications within a reasonable commute from the dog's foster home. Our adoption fee is $200, however we offer a discounted rate of $150 for senior adopters over the age of 65.
