Rescue FAQs

We love the potbelly pig and other breeds of swine. We educate the prospective owner on do's and don't' of having a potbelly pig for a family pet or companion animal. We discovered 15 years ago what an amazing animal this is when we had interaction with an Austic child, and now we work extensively with "Special Needs" programs and the rewards of the enter action with these animals is over whelming in lots of cases. If we can make one potbelly pig happy and put a smile on a "Special Needs Child or Adult" or for that matter ourselves or the caregiver then we have accomplished what we have strived for. An amazing animal who loves human companionship.
We serve the entire USA. We fly animals that are in emergency situtations along with those relingished to shelters that may also make a wonderful companion animal. We have recently 2011 gotten involved with giving potbelly pigs, Gottenbergs and Yucutans that have been used in research programs a 2nd chance at life, There life in a research center is unbelievable compare to letting them have a real chance at life at this time we are involved with University of Salt Lake City, Utah. We have p/b pigs form Florida, Nevada,California, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Montana and Tennessee at the present time

Additional adoption info

Everyone submits an application for review, then a home visit is done either by us directly or one of our 7 representatives located in several different states. Fees very, we consider the animal needs before adoption fees. If the family is approved and the potbelly pig is compatiable for them then we ask for just a donation. Our fee, when implied, is 100.00, we do try to recoup some of the medical expense that we intale. Zoning, fenced yards, education and depending on animal no other animal present. We do fllowups and in our approval contract, if the animals does not work out, it is returned to the Pig-A-Sus and if possible at our expense. For some who we think may make a good home BUT uneducated on the potbelly pig, we require visit to us or prior visits with the representatives.

We accept donations thru pay pal and US mail also. We also are gladly to accept material items also etc: blankets, bowls, items for cleaning the animal and pens
