Rescue FAQs

Middle Tennessee German Shepherd Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of providing medical care, temperament evaluation, rehabilitation, training and placement of German Shepherd Dogs and other herding/working breeds. Our program includes dogs rescued from shelters, dogs found as strays by individuals, as well as owner-surrenders needing to be re-homed. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, brought up-to-date on all vaccinations, are heartworm tested and micro-chipped. Our extremely high placement success rate results from carefully matching the right dog with the right family; Our goal is to provide German Shepherd Dogs permanent homes with qualified owners.
Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville (TN) area and we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process includes:
(1) submission of an adoption application which includes a request for vet references
(2) meet-and-greet with available dogs to find one that will be a compatible match with the family and existing pets
(3) home visit
(4) adoption contract and adoption fee
