Shelter FAQs

We are a non-profit organization that was created to help reduce the stray population in the Tama/Toledo area. Our Board of Directors are strong animal lovers who support reducing the overall pet population through neutering/spaying ALL animals at our expense. This is costly but very much worth it. We want to see our animals happy, healthy, and safe. We are all volunteers & we always need help with computer work, direct animal care, shopping, and cleaning. If you are interested, give us a call or stop in.
We are a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter in Tama, Iowa. We serve Tama County & accept animals from all over, location does not matter. All of our staff are volunteers. There are no paid positions. We love the animals as if they are our own. We know their behaviors well so give us a call or come on down and take a look. We usually have 10 dogs and 20 cats in the shelter at one time that are available for adoption. We are always open Saturdays 8-11, and animals can be visited by appointment at any time.

Additional adoption info

$20for a cat, $30 for a kitten, $150 for a dog, $200 for puppies. All animals are spayed/neutered before they can be adopted. All vaccinations are given by our vet Dr. Cristi Downs. We require a pre-adoption screening (which can be done through email) and an adoption contract signed the day of the adoption. We do a background vet check and call landlords (if the potential adopters are renting).
