Shelter FAQs
We are a county run animal shelter full of animal-loving staff and volunteers.
We serve anyone who wishes to adopt from us. However, transporting the animal is up to the adopter. We can only accept animals who reside in Sangamon County.
Additional adoption info
Adoption applications are processed on a first come first serve basis. If you live in Sangamon County, you must prove your pets are current on the rabies vaccine and registered with the county. If you rent, staff will call homeowner or apartment manager to verify approval to have pets.
