Rescue 2 Rehab

About Rescue 2 Rehab

We rescue dogs from high kill shelters, as well as from other dangerous and abusive situations. Some of these dogs require intense medical attention as well as a safe place to re-enter back into this world. During this process some of the dogs stand out as those that might be a candidate for the initial evaluations stage for becoming a service, therapy and emotional support dogs for people in need i.e PTSD, Autism Spectrum, Emotional/Mental and Developmental Needs. Dogs that pass the initial evaluation will go on to the first stage of training. We are currently in the process of searching for additional qualified trainers and fosters just for these dogs. Part of the mission is to make these dogs available to those that normally wouldn't be able to afford them, yet so desperately need them.

Dogs that do not pass the initial evaluation stage are put back on the available list to be adopted.

Adoption Process
Requirements to Adopt:

It is our responsibility to find the best possible homes for the dogs and puppies in our care. We consider important details in finding the right fit, such as a person's home, interests and lifestyle. We then match those with an animal's social, exercise and training needs. Some of our animals have special needs or requirements like being an only pet or medical issues or they may not be good with kids etc....Therefore we reserve the right to deny an adoption if we feel it is not a good fit or in the animal's best interest.

Adoption Requirements:

We require all Rescue 2 Rehab dogs to be enrolled in obedience classes within two weeks of the adoption date. Proof of enrollment will be sent to Rescue 2 Rehab within two weeks of the adoption date. All Rescue 2 Rehab dogs will complete obedience requirements by the date written on their contract.
You must be at least 21 years of age
Have a valid, government issued, photo ID with you with your current address on it
Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household.
Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting.
Must be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet including yearly vaccinations, check up and monthly heartworm prevention (for dogs)
Have everyone in the household that is 13 years of age or older read or have read to them explaining what is expected, and what needs to be done to insure the best chance of a smooth transition of the new pet into their new home. All members of the household 13 years and up MUST sign the contract extension stating they have read the information and agree with adopting the dog or puppy.

All dogs and puppies will have had, or will need to have:

Vaccinations: DHPP-Parvo/Bordatella for dogs and puppies (as recommended based on age)
Yearly Rabies (for dogs and puppies over four months of age)
Worming (as recommended based on age)
Spay or Neuter or an agreement and date to have the surgery performed
Monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventive

Adoption counseling to help the adopter select the dog best suited to the family and home environment
Educational materials (see our website for information too)

Adoption Donation Fees:

$250 - $450 for dogs and puppies* (*Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, Veterans and Active Military discounts may be available depending on the animal on a case to case basis. Other discounts may be available depending on the animal on a case to case basis.)
The Adoption Fee helps us to cover the costs of all the animals in our care, including: tests, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neuter surgery, medications, surgeries, rehabilitation, boarding and training. Any donations over the stated adoption fees are greatly appreciated. On average, we spend more than the adoption donation fee for each animal in our care.

Adoption Process:

Click the button above to fill out the online application. We review all applications, however due to the volume of the applications we receive it is not possible that we call every applicant back upon receiving their application. We often have several dozen applications for the same dog . Once we have reviewed the application and feel based on the information you have provided to us that you and your family would be a good fit for the dog you have applied for we will then contact you by phone or email. We will require a home check for all dog adoptions. Once approved, you will sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption donation fee.
Note: If for any reason an adopter can no longer keep an animal adopted from Rescue 2 Rehab, that animal must be returned to Rescue 2 Rehab.
