Rescue FAQs

We are a small private rescue located in the mountains of northwest North Carolina and have our 501c3. We do not get government funding and depend on private donations. Our mission is to help put an end to the euthanasia of adoptable animals, find homes for animals in need and educate the community on being a responsible pet owner along with the importance of spay/neuter. We operate with a small group of dedicated volunteers and raise funds through various fundraisers, donations and grants. We have a NC shelter license and house a limited amount of cats only by state law. Our facility does not qualify to hold dogs because of the size of building and septic. We pull animals from our local Animal Control facility as our main means of intake. We are always looking for people willing to foster animals so we can save more lives. The Ashe Humane Society will provide food and supplies and take care of medical costs.
