Shelter FAQs

HSCCL is a private, non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving the animals and people of Kaufman and Henderson counties. We rescue and care for more than 3,000 animals each year. HSCCL receives no government funding and is not affiliated with any national or other humane organizations. We depend solely on the generosity of individual and corporate supporters to fund our programs and services.
Our shelter is physically located in Tool, Texas, which is about 52 mi. SE of Dallas, Texas. If you are interested in meeting any of our adoptable animals, please fill out an application and we will contact you and arrange a meet and greet in the DFW area.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in meeting an animal, please begin by filling out our adoption application which can be found at https://www.hsccl.org/adoption-application-1.html. Adoption fees vary. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate shots, rabies, worming, and a microchip.

Although a home visit is not always required, we do reserve the right to conduct a home visit prior to being approved for adoption.
