Shelter FAQs

Riverside County Animal Services operates four shelters. Our locations are in Blythe, Jurupa Valley, San Jacinto and Thousand Palms.
The Coachella Valley City/County Animal Shelter provides complete animal services for the unincorporated areas of Riverside County. It provides shelter and adoption services for Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage. Riverside County Animal Services provides field services for county areas and the above cities, except Indio, La Quinta, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. Those cities provide its own animal-control officers.

Additional adoption info

The pets featured on our web page are available for adoption on first come first serve basis. We do not guarantee that pets seen on our web page will be available to adopt when you arrive at the animal shelter. The County of Riverside Animal Services does not reserve pets for adoption by telephone or e-mail. You must come to the shelter to adopt an animal and refer to the animal's pet identification number (PID) when inquiring about a particular pet.
