Rescue FAQs

Reno Tahoe Rescue Society's Goal is dedicated to finding that perfect match for small animals in need of a forever home. Although most are dogs, our services also include cats ,ferrets, and exotics such as reptiles, fish, birds, Sugar Gliders ... etc. ---Our Mission Statement--- Reno Tahoe Rescue Society is committed to matching animals with humans to the best of our ability. Our hope is to create forever homes for our rescued companion pets. As a local dog and small exotic rescue that concentrates on saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills and hoarding situations, our goal is to to educate the community on spay and neuter programs along with proper care and training. This is the ONLY way to keep animals out of the shelters and avoid euthanasia.
Reno Tahoe Rescue society is located in Northern Nevada, and services the Northern Nevada and Northern California areas. Adoptions to persons outside of these areas can be discussed.

Additional adoption info

Reno Tahoe Rescue Society's process is for an applicant to fill out an adoption application, if that is approved there will be a home check, and then a meet & greet with the animal. Our policy is to find the home that best suits the animal, not on a first come first served basis. Our contract specifies the animals are to be returned to us at any time if the situation deteriorates. If the animal is returned within 72 hours the adoption fee can be returned.

All donations go strictly to the expenses incurred for veterinary and foster care.
