The Vanderburgh Humane Society, Inc. (VHS), a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) organization, was founded in 1957. We receive no tax-based funding whatsoever. Therefore, we depend on the generosity of the corporate community and the public at large to continue, and hopefully expand, the much needed services we offer.

- It's impossible to know whether a pet may be a good fit for you, just from an online photo. Visit us during Adoption Hours!
- Interview
- We will discuss what you are looking for in a pet, so we can help make the best match possible for your family!
- Approve Application
- Sign Adoption Contract
- Pay Fee
- Take the Pet Home
- If the pet is already spayed/neutered, and we're not waiting on a meet & greet or medical results to come back, the pet can go home TODAY!

VHS Adoption hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00-6:00 pm Central Standard Time.
Our adoption fees are as follows:
Cats & kittens: $100
Dogs older than 6 months: $200
Puppies under 6 months: $250
Rabbits: $50
Dog and cat adoption fees include the animal's spay or neuter, nationally-registered microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations.
Fees for other animals:
