Shelter FAQs
The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Pat Wise Animal Shelter has four full-time employees and one temporary employee. Staff is also responsible for enforcing animal protection laws within the Borough, caring for animals held in the shelter, working with pet owners, and the public and other governmental agencies in the protection of the welfare of domestic animals in the Borough.
We serve all of the Gateway Borough. We also do out of area adoptions.

Applications available online or in person. A short one page adoption form, landlords approval, payment then off to the vet for spay or neuter, and a rabies shot. You get a call from the vet for pick up then enjoy your new family member.
