Areas Columbiana County Dog Pound & Adoption Center serves
We are a rural Animal Control facility located in Lisbon, OH. We only serve Columbiana County.
We will only take in dogs from our own county, most of which are strays. We do take owner turn ins, but they must wait until we have room to pull them in, as we don't want to have to euthanize dogs already here. We also have some dogs on occasion that have been seized from their owners for neglect/ cruelty charges who are awaiting their trials.

Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized.
Once your adoption fee is processed, your adoption fee in non-refundable, unless you dog should incur unforeseen complications during spay/neuter surgery.
Dogs are pack members and thrive on spending time with their "pack", therefore, we require ALL dogs adopted from us to be HOUSE DOGS, to allow them to become happy family members. If we discover any dog adopted from us is living outside, we will seize them immediately. Your adoption fee will be non-refundable, and you will not get the dog back. You will forfeit all rights and ownership of your dog immediately.
We require that if you are unable to keep your adopted dog for any reason, they must be returned to us.

About Columbiana County Dog Pound & Adoption Center
We are a rural Animal Control facility located in Lisbon, OH. We do the very best we can to get our dogs adopted and into good, loving homes. We try our hardest to place all adoptable dogs into rescues or homes. We are a VERY RESCUE FRIENDLY pound. We do have to check rescues before they can pull, but this can usually be done within a couple of days. We do on occasions have to euthanize, though we do everything we can to get the dogs adopted. For the most part, we only have to euthanize for behavior issues or injuries or illness beyond repair, however we only have a limited amount of space here.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?
Why should you adopt?
Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.
What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?
When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.
So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
