Rescue FAQs

Since its organization in April, 2001, IRISH SETTER RESCUE OF NORTH TEXAS, INC. has engaged in the rescue of dogs of the Irish Setter breed who have been abandoned, abused, or whose owners have contacted the organization because they can no longer provide homes for their Irish Setter(s). Often, rescue involves taking dogs from city/community shelters.

Additional adoption info

Persons wishing to adopt an Irish Setter obtain an application by contacting the Coordinator. Completed applications are reviewed and screened in an effort to insure that the persons adopting the dog have adequate resources and interest to provide ongoing care for the dog, and that the dog's temperament is suitable to the adoptive environment.

ISRNTX does not have a public shelter nor public viewing hours. In order to visit a particular dog, an approved application should first be on file. At that time, a schedule for meeting the prospective new family member will be arranged with the foster home.

Persons who adopt dogs are asked to contribute $275 to the organization to help defray costs. This adoption fee includes a $50 rebate for dogs completing training classes after adoption. Contributions are also made by persons who give up their dogs for adoption and by other contributors. Adoption fees for senior dogs are discounted.
