To ensure the health and safety of St. Louis City residents and companion animals through the enforcement of pet-related ordinances, as well as the promotion of pet safety and responsible pet ownership.

Our goals are to:

Protect the public.
Guarantee the humane treatment of companion animals.
Reduce companion animal overpopulation.
End companion animal abuse.
The City of St. Louis Animal Care and Control (ACC) is housed in the Department of Health. We provide rabies registration and licensing services and are responsible for the enforcement of pet-related city ordinances in the city of St. Louis. Additionally, we provide outreach and education services regarding pet safety and responsible pet ownership.

Additional adoption info

You are welcome to visit our shelter at 2801 Clark Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103 between the hours of 10am-5pm, seven days a week, to meet our adoptable animals. If possible, we ask that you call ahead so we can make sure staff are available to provide you the best customer service.
