Aid to Animals of Northern Illinois's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters must complete an adoption application. No adoptions will be completed on the same day that the application is completed.

Because of the tremendous amount of homeless animals and animals that are relinquished and abandoned to shelters daily, Aid to Animals is very concerned that its orphans go to homes where they will live for the rest of their lives.

Please understand that our concern is for our homeless animals and the process for the adoption is necessary to ensure that all animals are placed in "forever" homes.

You may fill out our online application here or download an application from website - www.aidtoanimals.com and mail it or fax it to Stacey Vrame at (847) 458-6328

About Aid to Animals of Northern Illinois

Aid to Animals is an Illinois shelter concerned with finding homes for some of the millions of homeless animals in our country.

We are a 501-C-3 Non for Profit organization since 1971. Founded by Stacey Vrame, she continues to work towards the goals she set in 1971.

We are strong advocates that adult dogs and cats can make the best pets for many reasons. Also, most potential adopters want puppies and kittens, however, when they realize the work and destruction involved, many times the kittens and puppies are given up to the shelter. Adults are calmer and learn quickly. They are extremely appreciative of the chance for a new home. Please consider an adult pet instead of a youngster.

In the spring, there are many homeless pregnant cats who we place in foster homes. The kittens are spayed or neutered and then place for adoption. The mama cats are also spayed and placed for adoption.

Many times we also rescue dogs from shelters and holding facilities when their "time" is up. We try to rescue those sweet, loving animals that might find a home

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
