Additional adoption info

When you choose to adopt a pet, you're not only bringing a new family member into your home but also making a life-saving decision. We're here to support you throughout the entire journey. HSNT provides numerous adoption centers in the DFW region. Discover one close by and make a difference in a pet's life today!

Adoption requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Have current identification showing your current address (if the address on your license is outdated, please bring a utility bill with your current address)

Adoption fees are determined by a variety of factors, including age, size, length of stay, and public demand. We do our best to ensure our adoption fees are reasonable and affordable to the general public. That is why we set fees well below the actual cost of your pets' care during their stay. The adoption fees help HSNT, a nonprofit organization, to cover a portion of the cost of your pet's medical care, food, and housing during their stay with us. The adoption fees at the Humane Society of North Texas range from $15 to $325 for pets and up to $2,500 for horses.

What's included in the adoption fee
Each pet adopted from HSNT is:
* Spayed or neutered
* Microchipped
* Up to date on vaccinations
* Dewormed
* Heartworm tested (dogs over 6 months old)

Every pet adoption also comes with:
* A free vet exam
* A cardboard carrier or slip-lead leash
* 30 days of free pet insurance
