Areas Hooves & Paws of the Upstate Rescue serves

We focus our rescue efforts in the upstate of South Carolina, especially Fountain Inn/Simpsonville and surrounding areas. We welcome adoption interests from a broader area, though. If we can drive to you within a few hours, we would love to make you a part of our extended family!

Additional adoption info

All of our dogs and cats are adopted out fully vetted: spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, fecal tested, negative heartworm tested (in dogs over six months of age), negative FELV/FIV combo test (in cats), dewormed, and on heartworm and flea prevention.

Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference, home visit, and minimum donation (of $75 for all puppies/dogs and $45 for all kittens/cats). Cat adoption fees are often waived in favor of a "you name it" donation amount, so watch for those specials. Our costs far exceed even the $75, so donations above the minimum are appreciated but never required. Loving forever homes for the animals God sends our way is my main concern. He will take care of the rest! :)

About Hooves & Paws of the Upstate Rescue

THE SHORT:

We are a two-fold animal ministry...a registered nonprofit rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming ministry dedicated to providing a place of healing for the sweet souls God places in our path, and a for profit caregiving (pet sitting) service committed to providing compassionate care for your furry family in the comfort of your home or farm...compassionate care when you're not there!

THE LONGER VERSION:

A little about the chick who started this thing called Hooves & Paws...

Keila Adams started Hooves & Paws of the Upstate because of her love for horses and her desire to provide not just pet sitting services, but a compassionate ministry to the animals and their families that God places in her path.

She has been a professional caregiver for horses in Greenville County since March of 2007, and has been a pet caregiver most of her life. Keila is an active rescuer for Greenville County Animal Care Services, a caretaker for a feral cat colony in Fountain Inn, and the primary caregiver for Hooves & Paws of the Upstate...as a paid caregiver in your homes, and as a volunteer caregiver in the Hooves & Paws Rescue Ministry. Keila has three dogs and a cat of her own and many others just passing through on the way to their forever families, and all came to her home as rescues. Keila has a special passion for helping animals and people who have been abused, neglected, or otherwise forgotten by society, believing that all of God's creation deserves love and care. It is the goal of Hooves & Paws to provide a place of healing for rescued animals and a bridge to their new forever homes.

Keila also has a passion for coming along side those who have a heart for their pets, but need assistance providing proper care. We are not here to judge, but to lend a helping hand. That is what God expects of each of us.

We are glad you've joined us! Pull up a seat and stay a while. Find the furry love of your life! If your house is full, just pass it on...and God bless!

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
