Shelter FAQs

The Raton Humane Society works with the City of Raton to provide animal control, care for sick and injured animals, and oversees the operation of the Raton Animal Shelter. The regular adoption fee is $75.00, which includes spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, City of Raton tags for the calendar year, and all current shots. Specials often run and are advertised on Facebook at Humane Society Raton, NM.
We are non-profit corporation existing since 1979. We operate strictly on membership dues and donations. Our purpose is the prevention of cruelty to animals, to care for sick and injured animals, and to oversee the operation of the Raton Animal Shelter. We have a cooperative agreement with the city of Raton regarding animal control.
