Rescue FAQs

People Helping Paws Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is fully volunteer-run and operated. We specialize in pulling pit bulls and bully breeds from kill shelters in our area. We save the most at-risk dogs that have medical or other issues which prevent them from being adopted. Our team works to rehabilitate these pups and give them a proper chance at life! Since our formation, PHPDR has saved over a thousand pets from euthanasia and, with your support, we continue to grow in the number of lives we save! In addition to our foster/adoption program, we want to help keep pets in loving homes. To do this, we provide spay/neutering, medical services and dog food to families in need in our community.
We serve the state of Missouri. Our fosters are located in Jefferson City, Columbia, St. Louis and Kansas City.

Additional adoption info

At the time of adoption, all of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and heartworm tested as appropriate for age, given flea/tick and heartworm preventative treatment and micro-chipped.

You must be 18+ to adopt and a Missouri resident.

Check your HOA or lease for pet permissions.

We do not adopt out dogs that will be living outside on a chain, in a fenced yard or in an outdoor kennel--that's why our foster volunteers work hard to crate and potty train our dogs so they can live inside as a part of your family!
