Areas Crummel's Angels serves

Crummel's Angels is located in Kalamazoo, MI. We are a private, in-home, no-kill animal rescue that provides shelter, care, and love to cats, dogs, and some small/exotic animals that are or have been abused, abandoned, neglected, surrendered, or unwanted. This charitable rescue facilitates the placement of these animals into safe and loving "FURever homes."

This informal organization has been founded and operated by one person. I do not rescue animals with financial fulfillment as a goal. Crummel's Angels is NOT for profit. I speak for those who have no voice. Realistically, not every animal can be saved. However, that does not mean that I will not try my best!

Crummel's Angels's adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fees vary based on the services performed during veterinary visits (if extra services than a health check and deworming are required). Adoption fees must be paid in CASH. If a kitten/cat has a clean bill of health, the adoption fee is $50 per kitten and $35 per older cat (12 months and up). If a puppy/dog has a clean bill of health, the adoption fee is $75 per puppy and $50 per dog (12 months and up).
*At this time, there are no puppies available.
There will also be a contract that you will be asked to sign upon adoption stating that you understand the medical care the animal has received so far; that you are willing to continue providing routine and emergency care; that you promise not to abuse, neglect, or abandon the animal, and that if, for some reason, something does not work out with the animal, you will bring that animal back to this rescue. (These Angels are not for resale.) Refunds will only be given for up to 7 days if the animal is returned in the same condition he/she was at the time of adoption. Consent to have your picture taken with your new Angel will also be asked at that time in order to post the adoption news to this Facebook page.

FYI - All animals rescued by Crummel's Angels cannot be adopted for at least 7 days in order to ensure that all attempts are made to find the owners, as well as ensuring the overall health of these animals. If an animal is surrendered, that animal cannot be adopted for at least 72 hours to ensure the health and safety of all animals. They are also all flea treated (except for those under 12 weeks of age or pregnant or nursing mothers, unless otherwise directed by a veterinarian). Kittens and puppies visit the veterinarian at the age of 6 weeks, where they are also de-wormed. Kittens will come litter box trained. Kittens under 8 weeks of age have been receiving eye drops (non-steroidal) with antibiotics. Kittens and puppies are available for adoption around 8 weeks of age, after receiving their second dose of de-wormer. Kittens/cats that are alone (not in a litter) are tested for Felv/FIV and treated with Revolution at 8 weeks of age. Puppies/dogs that are alone (not in a litter) are tested for the Parvo virus and treated with Revolution at 8 weeks of age.

Please note that ALL donations go directly back into this organization and toward paying for animal care, as all expenses are out-of-pocket. This includes veterinary bills, medication, food (cat, dog, kitten, puppy, other; wet and dry), litter, bedding, shampoo, flea treatments, de-wormer, non-standard medical care, etc. Other donations can any of the aforementioned items and/or crates, cages, treats, toys, furniture, etc.
Monetary donations are always welcome to help provide for current and/or future angels. Donations can be made by CASH, CHECK, or ONLINE. Checks can be made payable to Crummel's Angels (inbox me for the address). For cash and check donations, a receipt will be given to the donor. You can visit http://www.gofundme.com/CrummelsAngels to donate online. You can also use the Donate App/Tab through Facebook (also via PayPal).
Be advised that donations to Crummel's Angels are NOT tax deductible at this time.
*Please note: Crummel's Angels reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. We will not adopt to persons who mislead or fail to provide accurate information. You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

About Crummel's Angels

I have been rescuing animals and finding them homes since I was a young child. It was something my mom taught me, and we both have a great love for all animals. Since college, I have been rescuing animals on my own. I kept most of them. However, I began running out of room, yet still wanting to do more. I then started searching for people who were fit and willing to adopt the animals I had rescued.
I have rescued animals from many various situations: pet stores, puppy mills, high-kill shelters, abandoned animals, special needs animals, and owner surrenders. If an animal is lost, I do my best to locate the owner. If abused or neglected, I provide food, shelter, healthcare, and medicine if necessary.

I am a social worker who has worked in Foster Care and Adoption. Recently, I have become disabled and can no longer work. Although I miss working with children, this opportunity gives me more time to focus on my animal rescue efforts.
I am just in the beginning stages of networking in order to expand my efforts, as well as working on partnerships with other agencies, veterinary clinics, and shelters to ensure the health and safety of all rescued animals. I am open to any suggestions or advice from fellow animal lovers!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with 5 minors), as well as a Master's degree in Family Life Education. Before I became a social worker, I was a teacher. Education is VERY important to me, and I bring that with me through my organization. What I do is not just about rescuing animals, rehabilitating them, and finding them loving homes; education about animal cruelty and proper care is crucial. "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." -Nelson Mandela

Crummel's Angels's adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Kalamazoo, MI.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
