Rescue FAQs

I Am Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit animal rescue organization based in North Texas.
Our primary purpose is to assist homeless and unwanted dogs of all breeds and sizes by providing necessary health care and rehabilitation for them prior to adoption by a loving and responsible forever family. In our efforts, we work with the “rescue community” at large to educate people about the benefit of spay/neuter and the responsibilities and costs of pet ownership to decrease the number of homeless animals. Our volunteers are the life-blood of our mission!
Denton, Collin, and northern Dallas Counties in Texas between the cities of Denton, McKinney, Little Elm, The Colony, Frisco, Carrollton, and Plano. Tarrant County, Fort Worth. Dallas and surrounding area. North Texas.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
We require an application as the 1st step - before a meet-&-greet can be scheduled.
We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Meet the Pet
We schedule meet-and-greets with foster families and potential adopters to meet the dog and discuss. We do not adopt on site.
  3. Home Check
We require a home check and vet reference check.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
We have an adoption agreement that needs to be signed.
  5. Pay Fee
Our adoption fee must be paid prior to the dog coming home.
  6. Take the Pet Home
We begin all adoptions with a 2-week trial period to ensure it's a good fit for everyone.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $175 for a completely vetted dog, including spay/neuter, microchip, all necessary vaccinations, and heartworm free. We require an acceptable application, trial period, and adoption contract to assure a successful adoption.
