Areas The Bunny Hutch serves

A zoo that isn't a zoo! Education that comes to you. Animal Ambassador programming, adoption, support, wildlife and animal rehabilitation.

Animals cared for by Keepers in a zoological environment live mentally stimulating lives and often live more than twice their wild counterparts do. This knowledge is not a secret, anyone can learn how to enrich ANY family members life. No matter if you are covered in fur, feather, skin or scales The Bunny Hutch can help you.

Additional adoption info

We are looking to make adopting ANY breed or species fun; heck a party. No more glum and blah. Above and beyond we are NO KILL! No trnsfers to a kill shelter, if they need to stay with us forever (not our goal). Then so be it.

Our adoption fees differ between breed, species, age, etc. But we rescue "everything", if we do not have room we call a "specialty" breed/species specific rescues like Gentle Giants for Mastiff or Virginia Herpetology for the really BIG rescues. The care they receive is always the best, we follow AZA guidelines and quarantine all new "intakes" up to 90 days if necessary for fecal testing. Longer for other medical issues and often even longer for psychological issues.

Our adoption package is different we have what is called a "Great Beginnings" package where you get everything you need for your new family member so you may concentrate on creating a lifetime of memories together.

-Example for a dog" "Talula Bell". She is a Chihuahua, female, tan, small under 15 pounds and is approximately 2-3 years old $75.00 adoption fee.
She has been spayed, micro-chipped, teeth cleaned, all shots, nails trimmed and comes with a transferable contract of Pet Insurance with VPI. Sky kennel for travel, travel kennel for daily trips, dog bowls, crate cover, leash and harness. She is a "high energy" young lady and would love a friend to play with; human or fur-baby. Blanket and toys sized just for her, all custom and organic, 100% cotton where that applies.

Example small exotic tarantula.
-"Daisy" Rose Hair Tarantula, approx 2-3 years old
$50.00 Adoption Fee. Her package is life in a size appropriate "bio-active" terrarium style tank, food and water dishes, travel keeper, cricket keeper and cleared quarantine of fecal panel and behavior training to be able to be handled.

We strive to be able to make adoption easy, to reduce the rate of re-homing, transfers and drops. As a small facility that works off of donations we cannot take every animal that comes across our path, just those in serious need.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
