Rescue FAQs

We are located in Placerville, California and work with fosters and volunteers that live in El Dorado County and neighboring areas. We are committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless and abandoned dogs, pets dumped at High Kill shelters, and dogs surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them. We consist of a network of fosters and volunteers and we are committed to placing dogs in loving, well matched and carefully screened fur-ever homes. Sunny Dog Rescue strives to work with euthanising shelters to create a better life for homeless and neglected pets

Additional adoption info

Our fees vary by the age of the dog(s) adopted and we require adopters to be at least 23 years of age. Our adoption process is as follows:

1) Research and find your new friend online.
2) Fill out an ADOPTION APPLICATION at SunnyDogRescue.org to find out if the dog is the right match for you and your family.
3) Meet & Greet: If there are children and other animals living in the home, they must all meet the dog(s) before being
5) A Home visit is performed
6) Pay adoption fees, fill out Adoption Contract/Waiver and head home with your new forever companion!
