ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LKR/Dog

o If the dog is listed on pet sites, it is available for
adoption; it is not necessary to call/email to ask if they are available.

o As a foster-based rescue, we do not have facility for you to come visit our dogs which is why an application is required prior to meeting.

o Meet/Greet Events: You can visit our website to find our when we have scheduled meet/greet events www.luckyk9rescue.org.

o Adoption Process: An application is submitted and approved, a meet/greet is scheduled and a home visit is required. The adoption process takes at minimum of a week AFTER your application has been approved and a meet and greet scheduled.

o Once applications are submitted – if you meet the minimum requirements for the dog you are interested in, the application is forwarded to the foster for their review. It can take time for us and the foster to review all the applications received. This part of the process can take a few weeks, sometimes more. Due to the number of applications we receive for all the dogs/puppies we are not able to respond to everyone as to the status of their application. You will be contacted if you are selected to schedule a meet/greet.

o If selected as a potential adoptive family you will be contacted by phone, text or email to schedule a meet/greet. Because we are all volunteers and have full-time jobs & families out adoption process does take time. Forever homes are chosen based on the dog’s personality and the applicant we feel offers the best fit for the dog. Please be patient with us through this process.

o Adoption decisions are based input from both the foster family and the board requirements. >> Adopters are selected based on the best fit for the dog and are not selected on a first come first serve basis.

About Lucky K9 Rescue - St. Charles MO

Lucky K9 Rescue "Lucky K9" is a section 501(c)(3) dog rescue group, incorporated in 2016, with years of animal and rescue experience amongst our volunteers. "Lucky K9 " is committed to helping the most needy, as well as the readily adoptable, among our community's most vulnerable creatures. We are dedicated to restoring the dogs under our care to physical and emotional health as they await placement in loving, responsible homes.

Just like many smaller rescue organizations, Lucky K9 Rescue is 100% volunteer driven. We all work regular full-time jobs and many have families as well. Being a foster-based rescue organization, means all our dogs live in the loving homes of our volunteer foster families.

We do not adopt out dogs until they have had time to decompress (typically 3-6 weeks), are fully vetted, we get to know their personalities and ensure there are not any underlying concerns or health issues.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in St Charles, MO.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
