Areas California Animal Rescue & Education Sanctuary Serves

We serve Antelope Valley, CA primarily, but have adopted to people in all the surrounding counties.

California Animal Rescue & Education Sanctuary's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

Once application is submitted, we interview the potential adopter. Fill out the application, print, & screen-shot it to text 661-236-6553.

2. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Most of the time the people come meet the pet, see how they get along with their other pets and family at our Sanctuary or PetSmart.

3. Home Check

We make sure that the fencing and gates are secure, no fox tails and no chance of escaping.

4. Sign Adoption Contract

We make sure that the adopters understand what they are signing. Adopters also receive a PetSmart coupon book with $550 worth of coupons.

5. Pay Fee

Fee (cash only) includes spay-neuter, vaccinations, deworming, microchipping. Microchipping only for dogs, but $20 extra for other animals.

6. Take the Pet Home

If a puppy or kitten is too young to be fixed and rabies vaccinated, they must go to a veterinarian of our choosing M-F 8-10:00 a.m.

Our adoption fees for dogs normally run from $150 to $250 for dogs that need a lot of grooming, oftentimes more for puppies and pure breeds ($250-450). Adoption fees are usually less for kittens/cats. Sometimes the fee is higher if a lot of medical treatments are incurred.

CARES does have a contract and we do a house check. The requirements are pretty standard for most animal rescues. We thoroughly investigate the potential home situation to ensure that the animal will be happy and safe, and that the new caretakers are satisfied with their new family member.

About California Animal Rescue & Education Sanctuary

Share Bond has been doing animal rescue, community outreach programs, media work, teaching at wildlife, companion animal and animal rights conferences all over the US. We at CARES help all animals in one way or another and are not speciesists. We have specialists in all areas needed at our rescue facility. CARES is also a sanctuary for non-placeable animals (deaf, senior animals, problematic) and we make sure that each and every animal has plenty of space, mental enrichment, attention, and a clean environment with the best food possible.

I chose to do this work because it is needed. We all owe it to the animals. Our important programs (Animal Crime Watch, Neighborhood Watch For Animals, TNR+, Humane Wildlife Solutions, etc.) are desperately needed. Someone needs to get through to the general public.

Come Meet California Animal Rescue & Education Sanctuary's Pets

CARES is in Lake Los Angeles, CA (E. Lancaster). We occasionally have a booth at events such as World Dog Day in West Hollywood; Bark at the Park in Lancaster; and at our Sanctuary in Lake Los Angeles (E. Lancaster).

Come see us at our adoption days on weekends at the 47th St. E. PetSmart in Palmdale, CA. Most of the time we are there on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but occasionally on a Sunday (same hours). Four times a year we are there for 3-day National Adoption Weekends. The next one will be 9/13-15/19.
