Rescue FAQs

Our goal is to help every cat that needs help. This includes but is not limited to ferals, strays, owner surrenders, and cats that have been cast aside and forgotten about by society.

We aim to place all friendly cats and kittens in foster homes until they are adopted into forever homes of their own!

FFR's objective is to enforce and educate the public about the importance of TNR, or trap-neuter-return. We trap, spay or neuter, and then return ferals back to their colonies as an alternative to euthanasia. These cats are given combo tests to determine their health level then given vaccinations and are returned to their colonies if deemed healthy. All colonies are given a dedicated caretaker to feed and monitor them. Any sick cat is quickly re-trapped and immediately taken to the vet. All of this is done out of pocket by our founding members. When possible we try to find low-cost spay/neuter clinics and help from other rescues.

Any cat that we cannot directly help by fostering, due to limited funds or foster homes, we promise to devote all of our time and resources in an attempt to find said cat a different rescue who has the resources to help or, as a last resort, a shelter in their area.

Our adoption fees for adult dogs and puppies varies by breed and age, which includes: spay/neuter, heartworm test and preventative, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, wormed and flea treated.

Our adoption process is very easy with a simple application to be filled out that helps us screen for long-term homes and ensure the cat/dog is a good fit for your family. Our application can be emailed or downloaded from our Petfinder homepage. Once we receive the application it will be reviewed and someone from our organization will contact you within 24 to 48 hours.

All our cats are inside-only, NO de-claw.

You can view our adoptable pets by visiting our Facebook page, Forgotten Felines Rescue of Louisiana, and Petfinder. Since our cats are fostered out of our homes, it is best to arrange an appointment to meet and visit with the cat/cats of interest.
