ADOPTION POLICY
Our adoptable dogs are listed on our Facebook page and at http://awos.petfinder.com/shelters/CT564.html.
If you would like to meet any of our dogs, please call or send us a message. We are an on-call volunteer team and will arrange a mutually-beneficial time for you to stop by. Prior to adopting from us, we require a completed application and will conduct a home visit and a vet reference (if applicable).

All non-sterilized animals are adopted through the Animal Population Control Program (APCP). To utilize this program, a Connecticut resident pays a $45.00 non-refundable fee at the time of adoption, which entitles the adopter to a vaccination/sterilization voucher good for 60 days at an APCP participating veterinarian. The voucher provides a one-time sterilization benefit of $50.00 for a male cat, $70.00 for a female cat, $100.00 for a male dog, and $120.00 for a female dog plus 2 pre-surgical vaccinations coincident with the sterilization. Adopters are required to pay for other services as specified by the veterinarian and are required to pay a $5.00 non-refundable municipal adoption fee to the Town of Griswold.

In the event that the animal is already sterilized, there is a $5.00 non-refundable municipal adoption fee to the Town of Griswold. Out of state adopters do not participate in the APCP program. For more information on our adoption policy, please contact us by email or by phone.
Non-residents may adopt from us and pay a $5.00 municipal fee (sterilized or un-sterilized), but are not eligible for program benefits. Pets too young or sick may be granted a medical extension by the veterinarian. However, all young animals must be sterilized by six (6) months of age.
