The Starkville Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter for Oktibbeha County and is managed by the Oktibbeha County Humane Society. The Oktibbeha County Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was founded in 1978. Our shelter provides a temporary home for lost and abandoned pets from Oktibbeha County.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting. We welcome you to stop by the shelter to view our available animals or view them on our website, www.ochsms.org. After selecting a pet that you would like to adopt you will complete an adoption application and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption rates vary based on the type and age of the animal. For kittens, any cat under a year of age, the adoption fee is $90. The adoption fee for an adult, any cat over a year of age, is $65. For puppies, any dog under a year of age, the adoption fee is $170. The adoption fee for an adult, any dog over a year of age, is $120.This fee include the age appropriate vaccinations, up to date flea preventatives, a microchip and their spay/neuter. Also, if you rent you your home/apartment, we do ask that your pet fee be paid prior to adoption. Our business hours are Tuesday-Saturday 11:00AM-5:30PM.
