We are a private non-profit animal welfare organization located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. OCHS provides a safe and warm facility to over 1000 pets a year. We have over 100 animals every day are in our care at the Adoption Center.
We are dedicated and strive to improve the welfare of pets in and around Oneida County.

Adoption steps

  1. Meet the Pet
    1. We can help you find a pet that is a good fit for your lifestyle and family.

  2. Submit Application
    1. This can be done online or at the adoption center during your visit.
  3. Interview
    1. Here at the OCHS, we promote Adopters Welcome, a conversational approach to the adoption process.
  4. Approve Application
    1. Staff will work on processing your application as soon as they ca.
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. After being approved, your adoption counselor will go over what your new pet has gotten as far as veterinary care while they were with OCHS.
  6. Pay Fee
    1. Each pet adoption fee will vary.
  7. Take the Pet Home

Additional adoption info

1. Adoption application must be completed.
2. Adoption review and placement is made by staff with best fit for animal as the goal.
3. Fees (sales tax not included):
Puppy: $150, Kitten: $50
Adult dog: $100, Adult cat: $15-50
4. Adoption contract required; includes requirement to return pet to OCHS if no longer wanted/cannot keep.
