Are Border Collie and Australian Shepherds equally smart?

While both Australian Shepherds and Border Collies are some of the most highly intelligent dogs, Border Collies are the fastest at spatial problem-solving and stand out for their ability to focus and pause before reacting. They love to solve puzzles, are quick learners, and need lots of varied, engaging mental enrichment every day to thrive. Without daily mental enrichment, both breeds can suffer from anxiety, boredom, and potentially develop destructive behaviors.
