Where are Catahoula Leopard Dogs from?

Catahoula Leopard Dogs are from Louisiana. They are the only dog breed native to the state. No one is certain as to the exact origins of the Catahoula Leopard Dog, but one theory is that Native Americans bred their dogs with the bloodhounds and greyhounds brought over by Hernando de Soto in the 16th century, resulting in the modern Catahoula Leopard Dog.
