Penny came to us from Franklin County rescue at 3 years of age. She’s an energetic and happy but also loves to relax when she’s at home and comfortable. She absolutely loves being outside and taking road trips. She does get agitated when meeting new dogs, especially those that are reactive but warms up relatively quickly. She lived with another dog for a year and they got along great. That said I would not recommend her for homes with cats or other small critters.

I was asked to give a dog a home, so I adopted him. My dog, Lucky is a very sweet dog. His previous owner lived in Georgia, and Lucky was abused. Since he had been with my kids and I, he's been very playful, loving, and caring. I just can't give him the love he deserves. I work all the time and my kids aren't home a lot to care for Lucky. He's territorial, so he pees everywhere and on everything. It's too much on me right now. Lucky is half lab and half pit bull. The person I got him from didn't get his shots or gotten him registered. Again it's a lot with being a single parent and keeping up with everything. I just want Lucky to have a loving family. He's great with kids, adults, and other pets.

Meet Reddy. Reddy is an 8-year old chihuahua/Papillon boy. He weighs 11 lbs. He was found as a stray in Dayton, OH area and was rescued from the shelter. Reddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm tested. Reddy is good with dogs. We are not sure about kids and cats. He is almost house broken. Reddy is very food motivated and likes to still his canine brothers'/sisters' treats if they didn't pay attention. He likes to chase mower, vacuum machine, and mop. Meet Mini. Mini is a female 8-year old miniature pincher mix. She weighs 11 lbs. Mini is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested. Mini is almost house trained. We recused Mini from the shelter in Dayton, OH. Her owner passed away. Mini is a shy girl. She loves her food and treats but is gentle on getting her share. She is friendly with dogs, cats and kids. She is very smart. She figured out the dog door of her foster home quickly. Mini is also a quiet girl. She doesn't bark much. Mini's adoption fee is $250. Meet Barry. He is a 5 years old Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. He doesn't shed. Barry is sweet and loves to kiss and cuddle. He stands up with his rear legs when wanting a treat. He is good with dogs. Barry is protective and doesn't like kids. Teenagers are ok. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Barry is not house trained. Barry weighs 23 lbs. Barry's adoption fee is $250. Meet Buddy. Buddy is a 2-year old chihuahua mix. He weighs 15 lbs. Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested. He is almost house broken. We don't know about Buddy's history. He was found as a stray in Dayton, OH area. We rescued him from the shelter. Buddy is very skittish. He is timid to places where he is not familiar with and may show fear aggression. We are looking for a quiet home for him. The adopter needs to be patient with Buddy. Buddy is fine with everybody. He usually stays away from the crowd and very quiet. However he has food aggression. He always fears that someone would take away his food/treats. Hence a home with children is not suitable for him. Once he is comfortable with you, he would come to greet you and let you to pet him. Henry and Raaz are a bonded pair and must be adopted together. They were bonded as puppies and rely on each other for emotional stability. I got them two years ago and Henry is 6 turning 7 soon on April 4th. Raaz is 7. They are very kind dogs who are moderately trained with tricks, going to their crates independently and giving space when needed. Henry is the goofball of the two. While he is a bit of a doofus, he is such a lover boy. His favorite things are playing with the laser, getting pets and chicken fat as a special treat. Raaz is a grumpy old lady with a heart of gold. She shows her young spirit when playing ball or laser and she loves Beggin for Bacon dog treats (or even better, real bacon). There has been some family medical issues and I am no longer able to home or take care of them properly. They will come with their crates that they recognize as their room and I will provide half a months food that goes with their diet. They both love a sprinkler in the summer as well

Meet Lily and Daizy. They both are female chihuahua mix. Both are 2-3 years old, weigh 10-11 lbs. They both are spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested. Both are not completely house trained. They use pee pads inside the house. Lily and Daizy are a bonded pair. They need to be adopted together. Lily is the black/white girl. Daizy is merle in black and tan. Both are timid and skittish. Lily is the boss of the pair. She may show fear aggression to strangers. But once she warms up, she is a sweet girl. Daizy is a shy girl but warm up quicker than Lily. She LOVES to give kisses. Both like to sleep with their foster mom under the blanket. Because of Lily's temperament, we think it is better for them to go to a home without kids. Both are food motivated. Both are friendly with dogs. We are not sure how they think about cats. Moe is a sweet and loving dog. He is shy and gentle with humans. He has never shown any aggression towards other animals or people. Unfortunately, he is having frequent accidents because he is scared of our other dog. We got him as a puppy and have had both dogs for 2 years. the issue has not resolved and it is not fair to him. He is energetic and loves to go for walks. He does potty outside every time he is taken outside. He would probably do best in a home that does not have other pets. He will not show aggression but he may be scared. We won't let him go until we know that he is going to be loved. He deserves to go to a family who can love him, be gentle with him, and respect his gentle nature. He is great around children! He can be timid around men at times but is fine once he trusts the person. He would do best with a yard to run and play. He is neutered and records can be provided. He does not have any health issues and just turned 3 (DOB 5/19/22).

Pudge is a retired field trial racing greyhound. This handsome guy has a brother named Beaver who was recently adopted. Pudge was born on 9/18/2021. He looks like his dad Aubrey, aka Red, who retired 12/4/2022. He was evaluated a couple weeks ago. The consensus is: This boy is great and is the best toy tosser. Pudge really LOVES his squeaky toys! Pudge is very aware of his surroundings and good on a leash. He loves to stand and observe everything Notice the black trim around Pudge's ears....so cute. He has white toes with fawn ticking too. He is athletic and would love hiking. This super sweet boy loves to play and meet people and is now looking for his new family. NO CATS or toy sized dogs please. Note: He will need a fenced in yard to run and play. He is heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Pudge will make a fun and awesome pet for some lucky family. Woody is a retired field trial racing greyhound. He was born 9/28/2020 and weighs 57 pounds. Woody is a sweet and friendly confident boy. Very good on a leash, and he is old enough to be settled, but young enough to love playing, hiking, or any other similar activity. We think he would do well with other dogs due to his balanced personality. Racing name was Set 'em up Joe. This very handsome boy is a lot of fun! Reacher is a retired field trial racing greyhound from eastern Ohio area. He was born on January 10, 2023. This gorgeous happy go lucky boy who would love a soft couch and a loving family. He is heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Reacher is boarding at Celina Pet Center. Reacher was treated tick disease in February. Reacher is a fun boy who loves butt scratches! He is very friendly and approaches anyone with confidence. He would do well in a home that has an active lifestyle. We think he is workable with another dog in residence. Pepper Jack is related to other cheese named hounds. Munster, Copper, Feta and Brie are siblings to Pepper Jack. Pepperjack is 2 1/2 years old (born 12/9/2022) and weighs 75 pounds and he is now actively searching for a loving home. He was returned 12 days after his adoption through no fault of his. He is now in a foster home in Ohio for a week and he receives a stellar report! He loves his cushy dog bed and loves to ‘bed fail’. He loves his toys and plays with them regularly; he even cuddles them on his bed. Mostly he loves chasing squirrels in the backyard. He is house broken; we have not had an accident. He doesn’t mind getting a bath – a bonus! He also loves to go for car rides. He also sleeps in the crate all night without a peep. He is a sweet, loving, boy and doing a very good job learning doggie manners. No kitties for this boy and he definitely needs a fenced in yard as he loves laying in the grass and enjoying the sunshine. Pepperjack is heartworm negative and is microchipped. Meet Gamera! She was found as a stray...Or really, she found us! Gamera was running loose around CHA and she walked right through the front door. She is a 1 year-old mixed breed dog who weighs 43 lbs. We`re so glad Gamera found her way to us, because she is the sweetest girl. Gamera is very affectionate, and enjoys spending as much time with her people as possible. She is equally happy to curl up on a cozy blanket for some cuddles as she is to go for a long walk. While Gamera is super sociable with people, she does not love interacting with other dogs or cats. Due to this, she would do best in a home where she is the only pet. Gamera has plenty of love to give though, and will make a wonderful companion!

Roxie is a 7 year-old Boxer/Doberman mix who weighs 67 lbs. She was surrendered to CHA when her owner could no longer care for her. Her previous owner reported that she lived with cats, children, and other dogs. Since being at CHA, she has done well meeting other dogs, but prefers to coexist rather than play. Though she is an older girl who enjoys those leisurely moments, she still has a lot of pep in her step! She loves to play with her stuffed toys, play bowing and throwing them around the room. Beckham is an 11 month-old mixed breed who weighs 40 lbs. This rambunctious, affectionate girl came to CHA through our partnership with the ASPCA. She was originally transferred from a shelter in West Virginia that was affected by a natural disaster. Beckham is a sweet, wiggly pup who loves attention and can be a bit dramatic (in the most endearing way) when she feels she is being deprived of it. She also loves other dogs, and enjoys wrestling and running around the yard with her doggie playmates. Beckham still has lots of puppy energy, and can be a little mouthy when she gets excited. Because of this, we are recommending she goes to a home with more mature children who are old enough to participate in her training. As with any puppy, Beckham will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training as she learns her manners. If you`re looking for a goofy, affectionate dog to keep you company on your adventures, Beckham could be the girl for you!

Kiva is a 7 year-old mixed breed dog who weighs 61 lbs. She came to CHA through our partnership with the ASPCA. Kiva is a calm, independent girl who loves to sniff and explore everything. She always enjoys her walks and has great leash manners. Kiva does well with other dogs, but she prefers to coexist rather than play. Meet Stitch, a 5 month old 50lb mixed breed puppy. Stitch came to CHA through our partnership with Gigi`s. He is an affectionate and energetic boy! Stitch does great during doggy playgroups and has made lots of friends. He is also an active listener who is eager to please! As with any puppy he will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Stitch is a goofy cuddle bug with a big heart who would be the perfect fit for any family looking to add some puppy silliness.

Toshy is one delightful gentleman. He is a Boston Terrier mix who weighs 40 lbs. Toshy was transferred to CHA by Stop The Suffering rescue. Since being at the shelter, he has been a curious, intelligent, and affectionate boy. He is always content to keep people company. And even though he`s 6 years old, he still has plenty of energy. He loves playing with other dogs in the yard and going on relaxing walks where he can sniff and explore. Whether you`re looking for an adventure companion, or a cuddle buddy to watch tv with, Toshy is your boy! And who wouldn`t want to come home to his adorable smooshy face every day?
