Rescue FAQs

We started doing TNR to address the feral cat problem in our neighborhood, and part of TNR is helping to socialize and place kittens we find along the way! Visit flatbushcats.org to learn more, donate or volunteer! Or follow our Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flatbushcats/

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Please submit an application on our website, flatbushcats.org/adopt. From there, it will be reviewed by our Adoptions Coordinator.
  2. Interview
    1. Once reviewed, the Adoptions Coordinator will then reach out via email to schedule an interview to discuss your application further.
  3. Approve Application
    1. If application is approved, the Adoptions Coordinator will introduce you to a cat in our program that will be a good fit via email.
  4. Meet the Pet
    1. If applicant is interested, a virtual meet and greet is set up with the applicant, foster, and Adoptions Coordinator.
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. After the meet+greet, applicant is then emailed adoption contract and instructions on adoption fee. 24 hours is allotted to complete both.
  6. Take the Pet Home
    1. Once all necessary paperwork is submitted and fee is paid, Adoptions Coordinator will schedule adopter picking up their cat from the foster.

Additional adoption info

We only adopt single kittens out to households with another young resident cat.
Our adoption fees are $125 for a single kitten/adult and $175 for a duo of kittens. All cats will be spayed/neutered, SNAP tested, dewormed/defleaded, microchipped, and given all age-appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption. Adopters will receive medical records for their cat(s) after pickup.
Adopters are responsible for picking their cat(s) up from the foster's residence, we can not deliver cats.
