My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Baxter is one of the thousands of dogs dumped at shelters over the holidays (so that they would not inconvenience their owners during the travel season). He is one of the few who made it out - because everybody who met him fell in love with him. Every year we make the extra effort to save a dog for Christmas. Baxter, our Cotton Candy Dog, is this year's Christmas boy (Marco and Polo were rescued last year in honor of Christmas). Baxter has the softest and most fluffy coat and the most gorgeous brown eyes. He is sweet, friendly, quiet and gentle. He snuggled up with his rescue angel Lisa during the 14 hour car ride from the shelter to safety. He and his hound companion rode like champions together in the car so, obviously, Baxter gets along well with other dogs. He just wagged his tail at the cat, so he seems to be OK with cats too. Baxter is very well behaved in his foster home and has not had any accidents in the house during his first week. He is crate-trained and is currently crated when unsupervised. Baxter is very affectionate and gentle, he puts his head into his foster mom's lap and wags his tail while being petted, Since Baxter is a little shy, we will only place him into a home where adults and children will treat him gently. He seems to be the perfect pet looking for a loving forever-home.

Baxter is turning into Mr. Charming. He LOVES meeting new people, saying hello to them and being the center of attention. He wants to say hello to everyone in the street and enjoys all the compliments he is getting on his appearance and personality.

Baxter is up-to-date on his shots, neutered, heartworm negative, and on prevention. He is not a very big dog - he weighs around 56lbs, which is a good weight for him.

Baxter sends sloppy kisses to his angels Peggy, Deva, Norma who helped him to safety and Lisa and John who spent many hours driving him to safety. We'll report more about Baxter as we get to know him better.
