Here's what the humans have to say about me:
NEO: RETIREMENT HOME NEEDED! We have to be honest here: Neo is almost 17 years old. His kidneys have been in a slow decline for years. It has been hard to find someone to adopt him. However, we haven't yet given up hope that we can find a loving home for this ginormous (~25 lbs.!), gorgeous, declawed purebred Maine Coon.
The words that come to mind to describe this fabulous cat: LOVE MUFFIN. Neo is simply the best of companions. He is an affection sponge who loves to cuddle: his favorite thing is to give hugs, and, with his size and soft coat, they are wonderful. He just wants to be someone's best friend: he likes to be wherever you are and just hang around with you, no matter what you're doing, whether it's reading (he likes to help hold the pages down), working on your computer, watching TV, or he'll never say no to taking a nap. If you are busy, he is happy to leave you to it while he rolls around in the sun or watches the bird-feeder channel.
We found Neo a great home last year with a really nice woman, and he made the transition to her home just fine and she adored him. Unfortunately, after just a few months she took a new, demanding job and didn't feel it was fair to keep the cat.
As far as his health, his kidneys are stable, and overall, he feels good. However, as a thank you for whoever adopts this older cat, WAG is happy to provide his food and cover vet expenses, provided he is treated by a vet with whom WAG already has a relationship.
So you see, there are advantages to adopting this senior boy: if you are on a budget, you can't beat the food-and-vet-expenses-paid deal WAG is offering. He is declawed, so your furniture is safe, and you don't need to bother with scratching posts. Most importantly, he is a loving, fantastic cat: whether Neo has a few months or years left, you won't regret a second of it.
Neo needs to be the only pet in an adult home. WAG only accepts applications from New Hampshire residents and from residents of communities in Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts that are on the New Hampshire border.
