My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frankie came to us as a stray and he is about 1 year old. He is an active dog that enjoys playing with toys and people. He prefers calm dogs. He needs a more active home where he can get the exercise that he needs. He should not be kept on a tie-out, since he likes to chew on them.

Frankie recently completed our prison dog training program where he received one-on-one training by an inmate that has been taught positive reinforcement dog training. Frankie learned Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, Polite Greetings, Housetraining, and some tricks. Anyone interested in adopting Frankie should fill out an adoption application. Adopters will receive an Adopter Guide outlining the training the dog has received and how to continue working with the dog. Here is your chance to adopt a well-trained dog from a shelter!

All dogs that haven't been previously fixed will be spayed or neutered before going home. Dogs receive rabies, initial DHLPP & bordetella vaccinations, are tested for heartworm, and wormed. They have been temperament tested and also microchipped. Adoption fee is $100, plus adopters must purchase a Lucas County dog license for $25. We add new adoptable dogs on a regular basis, so stop by during regular hours and see who's there. Also be sure to like our facebook page! Lucas County Canine Care & Control. Thanks for considering a shelter dog!
