My story

Mia was abandoned by her owner at a local business, adopted out and returned because she was too much for the small dogs in the house. She is about a year old and is very friendly and just loves attention! She is playful and good with other dogs. She thinks that she is a little lap dog.

Mia is currently in our prison dog training program where she is receiving one-on-one training by an inmate that has been taught positive reinforcement dog training. Mia is learning Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, Polite Greetings, Housetraining, and some tricks. She is due to return to our shelter on Friday March 7th. Anyone interested in adopting Mia should fill out an adoption application to reserve their space in line to adopt her. Adopters will receive an Adopter Guide outlining the training the dog has received and how to continue working with the dog. Here is your chance to adopt a well-trained dog from a shelter!

All dogs that haven't been previously fixed will be spayed or neutered before going home. Dogs receive rabies, initial DHLPP & bordetella vaccinations, are tested for heartworm, and wormed. They have been temperament tested and also microchipped. Adoption fee is $100, plus adopters must purchase a Lucas County dog license for $25.
