My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We are closed to the public on weekdays. We're an all-volunteer group and need advance notice to schedule appointments, therefore weekday appointments are available to schedule for adoption applicants only.
To adopt, please submit an adoption application (see the link below). Some animals may be in foster homes. For information on a specific animal, please visit our adoption center or email us at humaneswa@yahoo.com!

Please meet Dodger, a very handsome short-haired teenager/young adult male cat, close to 1 year old (as of March 2014). Dodger is an extremely sweet, mellow and friendly fella! He loves being with his humans! He can be a lazy boy, but has silly quirks that make everyone instantly fall in love with him! Dodger loves being hugged, held like a baby or even just in your lap - he's always happy just to have a little bit of attention that he showers people with affection to get it.

Dodger's "special needs" is pretty minor and very inexpensive. Dodger takes a dose of Benazepril (a pill) for an irregular heartbeat. The pills are only about $20 for a 2-month supply, which animal owners familiar with pet meds will know is fairly inexpensive. Dr. Hammond truly brought him back from death. Dodger was admitted to Alberta Vet Clinic with horrible symptoms and no explanation. His heart actually stopped for a while, but came back. A regimen of Benazepril fixed him right up! Dodger's gentle, mellow disposition makes him extremely easy to medicate. He will almost eat the pill right out of your hand! Since it's such a minor routine and common condition with inexpensive medication, we would be comfortable adopting him to someone who has never medicated a cat before. Dodger is a very lucky young man and very healthy on his meds! He hopes he can charm his way into a loving home! Visit our adoption center during Saturday hours or contact us to meet Dodger!
