My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blake: turning 11 weeks; Active Puppy; Shih Tzu/Havanese; Rough Coated Tri Coloring; 9 lbs and growing. Blake started his journey to rescue as a surrender to a shelter at 5 weeks old, so hard on any puppy to be that young and no momma. He did move around a little, to what all were hoping to be a forever home but that was not where he was meant to be. He has shown needs in a final forever home that will suit him best. Being abandoned at such a young age he will need: attention, patience, structure/routine, and HE HAS TO HAVE another dog companion his size-medium size. Blake is an energetic and playful puppy who loves people and other dogs who can keep up with him. He would do best with other dogs who are playful but have the stronger personality in the pack-Blake needs a leader. He likes being part of the family, whether it be inside playing with his toys or outside rolling in the grass. Blake catches on very quickly to commands and routine since he is so intelligent; he thrives in a structured learning environment. Although he is only a few weeks old, he already grasps the concepts of basic commands such as: sit, lay, outside, etc... he has even started going to the door when he has to potty. His foster pack has been a huge influence on learning how play, take his place in a pack house hold, and learn positive structure with crate training. In his forever home, he will need to continue this experience.
***The following requirements will have to be met in order to be considered an adoptive home for Blake to thrive in: Must live in a house (fence is case by case basis) or condo (privacy fence preferred). Fence types are only for his well-being and visibility as he loves to be outside. He will ONLY BE ADOPTED to a home that has another like minded 4 legged dog (described above in bio), please Submitted pics, describing their play style, possibly videos of other dogs/pets he will be living with will really help me understand the best match. If children are in the home, they must be 6 and up. He would appreciate a home that would continue training with him, he is very responsive to the clicker and food/toy motivated.*** Blake started his vetting on 3/23/14 and is on Trifexis. He will be adopted with his micro-chip and full vetting within Houston rescue services, including his neuter when he is more of age for a donation of $350. An adopter is welcome to finish the vetting and his required neuter on a contract to be completed by 6 months of age for $300. We are conducting pre-approved home visits within the Houston area, hopefully we will have volunteers outside of Houston to accommodate other applicants and a finished home visit/meet and greet to see how Blake does within the home. Blake won’t be travelling to meet any perspective adopters you must come to Houston to spend time with him. He will not be adopted out of state till his series of puppy shots are complete.
