My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zipster is my name and I am a social butterfly. I mean I seriously love meeting new people and being center stage, obviously I was born to have an adoring following! Some folks here say I am a nosy little guy, but I say who doesn't enjoy investigating new places, people and things? How do I feel about toys you ask, well I think they all are great and when it comes to soft beds... well when a handsome young pup is tired what could be better?! I am a fan of yummy treats too. I am loyal to a fault; I really am not a fan of sharing my humans with other four legged friends. I have lived with other dogs and can get along with them but I will be the first to admit that I have a very bossy nature and a chip on my shoulder when it comes to sharing with other pooches, so the folks here are trying to teach me to see the error of my ways. It sure takes a lot of practice and consistent reminding to learn some new skills doesn't it? I recently had an injury to my back and after several weeks of very strict kennel rest coupled with steroid treatment I am happy to say I am back to my completely active and busy self. The veterinarians who cared for me say because of my previous back injury I am at a higher risk than most for back injury in the future. This makes me a Special Needs adoption. I need a family who understands that although I could go on to live a happy and healthy life with no other trauma there is also the chance I could suffer another back injury in the future and not recover like I did this time. I am clownish, cute and super-duber lovable! I double-paw dare you to come in and meet me and go back home without a new pal! Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information please PHONE the shelter (978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk) instead of sending emails.
