My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"My heart is ever at your service" .. Meet Shakespeare! Shakespeare is about six years old. Shakespeare was not only found living outside as a stray, but he was also fighting for his life with two terribly infected eyes. Shakespeare unfortunately needed to have both eyes removed - in order to help him live a comfortable, pain free life. Shakespeare is probably one of the most friendly and affectionate cats we've had this year. He is SO incredibly loving and forgiving - especially after all he has been through. Shakespeare can barely contain himself when he hears someone walk by his cage. He has to start rolling around and pushing his head into your hand. Yes Shakespeare is blind - but that should not deter people from adopting him. The most common questions people have about owning a blind cat are: Can they navigate around a house normally & Can they find the litter box. The answers are YES and YES. Blind cats are just as capable as "normal" cats. In fact some of our staff members own blind cats and say that they get around just as well as their other animals. Shakespeare is already used to having no sight (because he had lived with impaired sight for a long time before they were surgically removed) and he has had no problems. He loves to play with his toys and he has already stolen quite a few hearts around the shelter so far. If Shakespeare can look past his "disability" - there has to be someone out their who will too.

We Spay/Neuter all of our cats and they receive the necessary medical care including Rabies, Three Distemper vaccines, De-worming, De-fleaing, Microchipping, and Testing for Feline Leukemia/FIV.

Care for Animals is located at 2944 Post Rd. Warwick, RI 02886. You are welcome to visit during hospital hours. Our hours are Monday 8-7, Tuesday — Thursday 8-5 and Friday 9-3. We’re also happy to set up weekend appointments.
