My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This adorable girl is now at Willamette Humane Society in Salem, OR. 4246 Turner Rd SE, Salem, OR 97317. Phone:(503) 585-5900

We are looking for a good and loving home for this sweet girl. Sadie is a border collie/lab mix who is 5 and a half years old. She belongs to my mom, who can no longer care for her. Mom has raised Sadie inside for her whole life, so she is mostly potty trained (I think I remember mom talking about an accident or two when mom forgot to put her out), but because she was mom's "baby," she's not very disciplined or exercised. At about 88 pounds, she's a good 20 to 30 pounds overweight. I've been walking her three times a day, so she's doing a bit better on her exercise ability, but she still gets shaky legs (muscle fatigue) pretty soon after we begin our walks. Sadie has undoubtedly lost some weight over the four weeks she’s been here; she is particularly good at early morning walks, when it’s cool and she has her energy up. She does not do cats, period. Feral cats teased her mercilessly when she was a pup in mom's fenced yard, so she would just as soon rip them up as look at them. I haven't had any trouble with her on leash though, even when there's a cat nearby. She did absolutely awesome with the loud, undoubtedly illegal, fireworks in the 'hood over the 4th. She also has some allergies (the vet said just like with people, unknown what the culprit might be here in the Willamette Valley) -- it results in some dry skin and itching for her. I've been putting hydrocortisone on her bad places, and that seems to be helping, although she licks it off almost as fast I can get it on her. She has all her shots and a microchip. She's been really good with any kids we've encountered and seems to love them; in fact, she's friendly to pretty much everyone - just not cats. She's really a pretty nice doggie; she just needs a nice someone to love her and spend some time with her. She would be happiest as an inside and outside dog if there's a fenced yard.
