My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stevie is a red & white double dapple dachshund. She was brought to our attention after she was dropped off at a shelter to be euthanized, (by her owner /breeder), because she was the only survivor of the litter & because she was defective she could not be sold.

Stevie, (named after Stevie Wonder), is a year old & is a bundle of fun. She is considered special needs only because she was born blind, but she is by no means 'special needs'. She has no issues with her hearing & listens about as well as anyother 'teenager' dog.

She is a rambunctious little dog who loves to play & as with all youngsters can sometimes get a bit rough. When she gets over excited we put her in her kennel & she will generally settle down & fall asleep right away.

She is kennel trained but can learn to be free roaming with time. We personally feel it is best to kennel our 'special needs' dogs at night & when we are away from the house as they are safer & our house is safer.

Special needs dogs are not harder to care for, they just need their forever families to be more aware of them and how their environment can affect them, and then some things might take them longer to learn or get the hang of than a 'normal' dog. I believe they are more loving because not only did you choose a rescue, but you are willing to overlook their special qualities.

If you would like to be her fur-ever family. Please contact me for an application.
