Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome boy goes by the name of Pudgie, sometimes Master P, and occasionally Bubba. As you can see, his given name certainly fits him. He is very masculine and strong. Pudgie is a neutered male English Bulldog, and he is estimated to be approx 8 years old.
Pudgie loves his humans!! He wants to be close to you all the time, by close I mean touching you in some way. He will sit at your feet or stand by your legs and lean against you. He isn't much into getting on the furniture, he has only recently experienced the luxury of a nice, fluffy dog bed. Coming from an environment of neglect before rescue, Pudgie is experiencing new things daily. Pudgie is crate trained and has had a couple of accidents while taking steroids for a nasty ear infection. He is also house trained, although he has had a few accidents on the floor as well. Master P doesn't know how to tell you if he needs to go out so frequent toileting is necessary. In some respects he needs to be treated as if he were a puppy as he has so much to learn.
Pudgie is good with cats but doesn't seem comfortable with our female EB. For this reason, it is best that he be the only dog in his new kingdom.
While he is a senior bully, he still plays with toys and occasionally runs like a youngster in the yard. He is a dream on a leash, likes strutting his stuff on short walks and loves to ride shot-gun in the car. He's a big boy and hasn't been around children, so he would do best with children 14 and older.
In his previous home, Pudgie had no boundaries and was allowed to do whatever he wanted. He still needs work on manners and simple obedience training. The word "no" doesn't mean much to his Highness. He is bulldog-stubborn so his new parents will need to continue to work on these things.
Pudgie is not a huge fan of being examined by the vet, this is probably because he hasn't been exposed as much as he should have been. He is a healthy boy so this shouldn't be a problem. He has seen the vet a couple of times and each time he has been less stressed and shown less aggression.
Pudgie needs to be on a high quality grain free and chicken free food with fresh fruit and veggies such as carrots and the occasional fresh apple. We use pumpkin in our homemade dog treats and he loves them. Pudgie is on a "diet" but please don't tell him! He needs to drop about 10 pounds to prevent issues with his elderly joints. They don't bother him yet, he has proven that by "counter surfing" for food!! Because of his age, he would do best in a single level or split level home with only a few steps.
Pudgie is a joy to be around. He is spunky and full of personality. We are seeing new aspects of his personality every day. Pudgie needs a family that will love him for the wonderful dog he is.
