My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This big, gentle, loveable and LAID BACK boy was rescued from the high kill Devore shelter this past spring about 12 hours before he was to be killed. What a gem of a personality! So sweet that he will roll over for tummy rubs with just about anyone.. . .at our vets office, with strangers who come to our home, you name it . . . he wants tummy rubs! Hershel was named after a character from the hit TV show "The Walking Dead" because of his affinity with the characters quiet, patient personality.

Hershel has a few special needs. First though very healthy, he did test positive for FIV. That really means nothing . .. most of the FIV cats at our sanctuary live a normal, long life. It also doesn't mean that he cannot be with other cats, as long as they don't fight. The other "special need" is that we are not sure if Hershel can be an indoor only cat. He really loves to go outside and would love a yard or neighborhood where he could just hang out during the day. .. . so it would need to be a quiet, coyote-free neighborhood! HOwever we are not sure that Hershel wants to be outdoors because here at our sanctuary, there are a lot of other cats "in his face", or because he was an outdoor cat before he was rescued and just likes the great outdoors! We don't know how he would do with a dog, but he is so patient and gentle, if the intro was good and the dog was quiet and cat friendly, we feel pretty sure he would adjust. We know for sure Hershel is good with children. . . the best! It would be great if he would be in a home with no other cat, but probably would be okay with one other if there was enough room.
Happy, healthy and sweet as can be. . . . that's our Hershel!
