My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Got word this morning that Martin has been adopted...

From Amanda (one of his caretakers): "Marty got a GREAT home with a quiet woman looking for an affectionate cat to be her only child!"

From Warren (Executive Director): "The lady that adopted him had just buried her husband and had recently lost her 14 year old cat too. We got her all set-up with new bowls and a litter box from the thrift store. Lisa T. handled the adoption and I spoke to the lady myself too."

I am grateful beyond words to the Greater Huntsville Humane Society for taking a chance on this "older" gentleman and giving him a chance to find a forever home.

Yeah Marty!!

Martin's story:

Introducing Martin, or Marty for short...and he needs our help.

An elderly friend of mine (Eve) has had him visiting her front porch for several weeks; with all this cold weather she feared for his well-being; her housekeeper just happened to be there when he showed up and she was able to pick him up and put him in a cat carrier. He was soon happy and purring, just snug as a bug. Eve told her that if she was willing to take him to the vet, she would pay to have everything taken care of...all we needed was a foster home.

Ok, let's back up a minute...

Until Martin made it to the vet yesterday...everyone thought he was a very pregnant female...you got it...a pregnant female. Ok, fast forward again. "She" is now an overweight, neutered male, approximately aged 8-10. Placing him in a shelter is a daunting task; seniors usually do not do well in shelter surroundings nor do they get adopted quickly.

I would love to help this fella out...and I promise I will try to get some more photos...he needs a home...foster or permanent.

He is a gentle cat who belonged to someone at some time...somehow he got left behind to fend for himself and he has some battle wounds. He *looks* like he's been in a few fights, his ears are all notched and torn; he hasn't hissed or swatted at anyone or anything. He is a VERY loving boy. He is just so sweet. He is just grateful to be rescued. He is tested negative for FIV and Leukemia.

Next stop...forever home!! Can you help me spread the word and find him a safe place to land?

If interested Martin is currently located at the Greater Huntsville Humane Society...

UPDATE:

January 26, 2015

Marty is a lap cat!! Yup, I went to visit our friend Marty this morning and he finally crawled out of his kennel and into my lap...made my day : )

Marty is still looking for a foster home or permanent home...he is somewhere in the neighborhood of 8-10 years old. FIV/Leukemia (-) and his rescuer and I are willing to pay for blood work to make sure he has no underlying health issues. He is not declawed. He needs a laid back home where he can be safe and indoors.

January 10, 2015

So today I went to meet Marty...wanted to be able to spend some time with him and take some photos.

He is all boy...not overweight at all...he is a long and tall cat. White with patches of brown tabby and a brown tabby tail. He is a soft spoken soul...gentle. Only wants to be loved and petted. We enjoyed our time together today. He even got animated when I brought out a toy to play with.

He definitely needs some good quality food, a bath, and some TLC. I think to be on the safe side, blood work too. He seems older than the 8-10 the vet stated; but maybe that is from being world weary and living on the streets. I know that love, food and a warm place to lay one's head can make a huge difference. I just hope someone out there is willing to take a chance on him.

Please share him with your circle of friends...he is a docile and quiet gentleman...not aggressive or hissy to other cats...he seems like one of those cats that will sit quietly in a sunbeam or in his human's lap...content and happy to pass the days away quietly.
