My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sky: 2-3 months; Sex: Female; Activity Level: Active Companion/Sports Potential; B/W Rough Coated Border Collie; Weight: 18 lbs expected 40 lbs. I know very little about Sky's history except that she was left in the backyard of a great Samaritan dog momma's yard at roughly 5-6 weeks old coming into rescue at 6-7 weeks. My guess is people love this breed but do not realize what they are getting into: smart=challenge and teach me. Sky has already been introduced to lots of socialization both human and dogs and she handles the dogs in her rescue foster home very well and has done well in a busier house; she is really learning patience; and gives clear signals of how she is thinking. She has done fine around well-mannered children; takes to new things easily once taught and she understands it and yes she does want to know what it is she is learning; she does play with a variety of balls/toys and is learning to bring them back to me; she loves to herd the other ball dogs and uses her bark to do so; she has enjoyed swimming at the lake following the other pups lead, rides well in the car; loves hugs and kisses, is house and crate trained. Sky is wicked sponge for more, a very biddable pup when working excellent eye contact always with a sit. After her lessons she likes to create her own games with balls and using her nose-she likes the thinking fun, takes to direction well and really needs to her human to stay a step ahead of her. Her leash lessons out the front door are fun for her she loves to meet strangers; do tricks with the clicker; is understanding her environment and enjoying it all. If you're looking for an agility, search and rescue, pet therapy, or obedience dog to work with she has a strong nerve of confidence and is almost in a roll over for a down or a great partner to enjoy life with and have fun doing so! She has a nice positive energy confidence, really likes to play and loves to use herding eye and other herding positions for play and sass the dogs into playing with her. Sky does enjoy down time outside and she likes to play with a toys in the yard, stick or bone or relaxing on my deck for her own private time. She has learned what she missed not being with her littermates and really enjoys connecting with the pack as well as with me. I would like her to continue to have doggie socialization in her forever home and even better if there is another engaging pup in the home. Holding out for love, excitement in life, a great coach, easily trainable and ready for more Sky is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She will need a home with children 8 and up, fence is mandatory, no apartment or condos at this time, would love to have some space between neighbors, continued dog play; great fun exercise in AM and PM and a human interactive break during a long work day (dog walker/home for lunch); an excited human partner to share her life with. There is an application to fill out, home visit is preferred, her adoption donation is $275 with applicable vetting for her age on a spay contract till 6-9 months of age or with Houston rescue services $325.
